How to use

GETTING STARTED

1Hold the handpiece like you would a pen, with your index finger on the trigger and the handpiece resting on your middle finger

2
The advantage of the airbrush foundation is that it is gently misted onto the face by air travelling from the compressor through the handpiece, resulting in a natural professional finish and preventing lines and build-up common to traditional applications.   The professional quality compressor of the Hollywood Air Personal 1000 provides exceptional flawless coverage. The amount of color sprayed on the face is regulated by pressure on the trigger and proximity of the handpiece to the face.   For example, holding the handpiece close to the face with minimal pull back of the trigger, will give you pinpointed directional coverage.   It is the combination and variations of distance and trigger pressure that gives you the professional flawless finish that until now has been available only to makeup artists.   This unique technique allows for exceptional coverage where needed, eliminating the need for concealers and means you do not have to have heavy coverage in areas that do not need it.

3
Select a foundation color that is closest to your natural skin tone. Always shake foundations well before using.   Customize the color to match your face by adding a couple of drops of lighter or darker foundation to get an exact match.   Put approximately five to ten drops of foundation into the cup of the handpiece.   Put lid of airbrush on and shake well to mix.

4Turn the compressor on by pushing the black button. You will should feel a constant stream of air coming out of the handpiece.   Makeup will not come out until you engage the trigger.

5
Test on your face between the jaw and cheek to check you have the correct color match.
Do not use the unit for more than 30 minutes continuously.   If you do, turn off the power for at least one hour to cool the compressor.   Always follow all safety quidelines.   Always turn the compressor off when not in use.

APPLYING HA FOUNDATION WITH YOUR AIRBRUSH

We recommend using only the HA eye concealer under the eye area because the delicate skin under the eye should have special treatment.   This is to be applied by brush.

Start by pinpointing areas that need more coverage than others, i.e.; blemishes, dark spots, veins, etc.

Remember to hold the handpiece like you would a pen.   With your index finger on the trigger, hold the handpiece close to the face and pull back a very minimal amount for detailed coverage of problem areas, and further away with a little more pressure on the trigger, for a wider misting and blending of color.

Then blend with an overall misting of color to create and even complexion. Work gradually to cover the face, avoiding heavy build up around lined areas. Remember that the airbrush is directional, therefore you need to turn it to get the correct angle for a consistent application.

Apply your blusher at the apples of the cheeks with a smooth outward motion toward the temples curving just below your natural cheek bone. Remember to do one pass of a light misting of color for a natural subtle glow. If you want more repeat. Use highlighter (Champagne Snow) at the top of your cheek bones and blend off towards your brow bone. Apply to your collarbones, shoulders, etc. Finish off with a dusting of “No Color” powder to set the makeup and get rid of unwanted shine. Start with the forehead and “T” zone area, center of the face and then the outside. Keep the powder with you for touch-ups during the day.

USING YOUR STENCIL

The great thing about the stencil is that it means you may do expert eyebrows, liplines and more every time.Find the shape that is closest to your own natural brow shape. Select a color slightly lighter than your own eyebrow color.(This helps to make the eyebrows look softer).Hold the stencil with your left hand. (Unless of course you are left handed; then hold it with your right hand.) With the brow shape held against your own eyebrow and skin, use your index finger and middle finger to hold the stencil on either end of the eyebrow shape; this allows you a clear area to spray. With the airbrush about 3/4 of an inch away, and with very minimal pull back on the trigger, apply the color. A Makeup Artist technique is to make a couple of passes of color. Do the outside edge towards the temples a little darker, and keep the inside of your eyebrow towards the bridge of your nose softer and lighter.

Wipe your stencil with a tissue, turn, and repeat on the other side. Note:You can make your own custom colors using Hollywood Air colored pigments, or purchase custom eyebrow colors sold separately.
Lips:Choose or blend your own custom color. Using the outside of the stencil, find the closest shape to your own lips and spray very lightly about one inch away with minimal pressure on the trigger. Shade slightly darker on the outer edge of the mouth and leave the center lighter. To give a plumping effect you can also add a little highlighter in the center of the mouth to help push it out. Refer to the Instructional DVD for more professional tips on eye shadow, eyebrows, lips and more.

CLEANING

It is very easy to keep your airbrush clean. Remove any excess Hollywood Air foundation and return to the bottle using the special suction dropper provided. Not only is this economical but it allows you to keep your custom blended color for future use in the blend and preserve bottle provided.

With airbrush turned on, put clean water in cup, cover end of cup to bubble contents. Run this through the airbrush and repeat until clean.
Do not allow foundation to dry in the cup. In case this happens, you may need to repeat the cleaning process several times.

It is necessary to occasionally remove and wipe the needle clean by unscrewing the back cover of the handpiece. Unscrew the nut and gently pull the needle out, being careful not to damage the tip of the needle, wipe clean, and gently push the needle back in the airbrush giving it a slight quarter turn when you feel resistance (it is not necessary to push hard), then tighten the nut and replace the cover.
